if you're worried that you can't communicate with them, i can assure you that with a little more patience, i'm sure you're able to! =)
I have been in it before, i remember how i 1st joined in this kind of outing, you know, i was also the same, worry about how am i supposed to communicate with them. my dialect isnt that good afterall~
Together i was with one volunteer with 3 able elderly, i thought it wasnt so bad.
Cos i didnt get any wheelchair-bounded, i thought it was so so so much difficult if i were to get them.
Anyway, just as i thought so, there was this old lady in the grp who wasnt that friendly than the other 2.
She doesnt smile as much~
Somehow im afraid of her arhs. you know she really dont smile a lot!!
But some time later, don't know why she grabbed my arm =)
she asked me don't walk away, she afraid of her being alone~
It touched my heart~ melted it to pieces! =)
You know, i felt super rewarded
never did i regret of joining iGAP~
u see, now i quite dare to talk to elderly le.. not afraiding of language barrier! =)
just trust me, u would feel rather not bad when u come join the outing!
